IITM grad: 2002
My first exposure to rock and live music was actually my first ever hostel night at IITM, where the band played Highway Star. I was hooked onto the sounds I heard and started playing the acoustic guitar on and off, whenever ESB would let me. Half of my final year was spent at the SAC music room, with a barely functioning guitar and a beat up drum set, though I hear it’s been massively upgraded since then.
After moving to the US and getting my first real electric guitar, I spent a few years jamming with people on and off and playing a few shows. I was soon part of multiple bands doing a lot more regular shows. Thursday nights at the Milk Bar in San Francisco was my regular gig with a rock/pop band.
Since then, I’ve been part of a couple of Indian rock / fusion bands and currently play with “The Incident”.
We’ve opened for several artists like Indian Ocean and Shankar Tucker and have been releasing our own music. We’ve also played as the local band for Shaan in various venues across the U.S, and with new artists like Abby V.
Prasanna has always been a great inspiration with his unique style of Carnatic/jazz fusion guitar. Such an honor to play alongside him and it promises to be an exciting evening!
