Rohini Chakravarthy

Rohini Chakravarthy trained as a Carnatic vocalist under the guidance of her guru Vid. Radha Thandaveswara of Bellur Sisters fame. Music was Rohini’s constant companion throughout her high school years, and a welcome break from IIT preparations - she completed her senior certificate in Carnatic vocals in her 11th grade. At IITM, she continued to sing lighter fare - at Kannada Sangha, Hostel Day celebrations, and as a guest musician at a few Prasanna-led concerts from 1989-1992.

These days Rohini does not perform much on stage, but she enthusiastically sings for friends and family and cherishes the repertoire she built as a serious musician in her youth. Today’s program is special to her as she performs old songs with IITM friends old and new.
