Kalaimamani Dr. Ramesh Srinivasan, prime disciple of Mridangam Maestro Sangita Kalanidhi Shri Vellore G. Ramabhadran, is the recipient of several awards and recognitions. Prominent ones being Laya Kala Rathna award for the year 2007, by Sriragam Fine Arts, Chennai, Prof. T R. Subramaniam “Best Teacher” award at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana festival of 2016, "Mridanga Acharya Mani" title by Charubala Mohan Trust in 2019, prestigious "Kalaimamani" award, a recognition by the Government of Tamil Nadu state in India, for excellence in the performing arts in 2021, "Acharya Ratna" by AIMA, in 2022. Ramesh has performed with several world-renowned musicians in Carnatic, JugalBandhi, Fusion, Jazz programs & Dance productions.
Ramesh researched & designed a software "Rhythm Generator” for generation of "rhythmic scores" for basic thalas, using simulation, modeling and AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques as part of his B.Tech thesis in IIT-M. Currently Ramesh is pursuing research in music for wellness using Brainwave QEEG based measurements along with his daughter Sathya.
He runs a percussion school “Sarvalaghu Percussion Art Center” in San Francisco Bay Area since 1994 and it is one of the leading South Indian Percussion Schools in North America having trained over 1150 students since its inception. The first-ever Mridangam arangetram (debut) in the San Francisco Bay Area was a student of Ramesh. US Congressional recognition for Ramesh’s 25 years of service to the community in North America as a leading artist and teacher was a highlight of the silver jubilee celebrations in 2019. Ramesh is a Technocrat & Entrepreneur in the Networking/IT industry since 1987, now with startup Mayosys (CEO). Ramesh is a B.Tech. from IIT-M (EE) with multiple MS degrees in US culminating in Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Cruz. Ramesh has co-founded 2 startups in India and is an innovator with several patents.
